From venture philanthropy to global giving, from financial institutions to mission-driven organizations, my work has always been centered on one belief: extraordinary outcomes emerge when the right people come together.
One experience that profoundly shaped my thinking was creating what is believed to be the first venture philanthropy fund within a major academic medical center. By uniting visionary philanthropists, investment professionals, scientific leadership, and a shared commitment to innovation, the initiative raised $126 million to accelerate promising cancer research and translate discoveries into new treatments.
My early work in innovation began at Fidelity Investments and Millennium Partners, long before venture philanthropy became part of my story. It continued in the early years of MassChallenge — recently ranked the #1 accelerator in Massachusetts and #2 nationally by TIME and Statista — where I served as an advisor, mentor and volunteer judge, working with founders, evaluating emerging ventures, and investing in one company whose founding team I coached as they built a business that continues to operate today.
